The Juniors suffered their second consectutive defeat of the season in a disappointing performance at home to Belturbet on Wednesday evening. Behind for most of the match, the Juniors never got back on terms after conceding a first half goal and trailed 1-4 to 0-5 at the break.
The visitors extended their lead in the third quarter to four points. Some great points from Drew McCabe and Anthony Corcoran narrowed the gap to the bare minimum with five minutes remaining. However Belturbet finished strongly and claimed the points at the end.
After a super start to the season, two consecutive defeats in the league means that promotion is no longer in our hands. With Mullahoran having one game remaining, and ourselves and Cuchullains having two games, with Mullahoran two points clear, a tight finish, and possibly play-off’s are on the cards, but only if the Juniors can re-discover their winning ways!
