Kingscourt opened their U-13 league campiagn with a defeat agaisnt a strong Bailieboro side in St. Anne’s Park last Monday evening. Played in the rare conditions of a bright Summer’s evening the home side started strong and quickly were 1-1 to the good.
However, while the U-13′s followedthe Seniors lead of slow starts they also recovered similarily to control the second quarter and a great Peter Corrigan goal got them back into things and they managed to lead 1-2 to 1-1 as they entered first half injury time. sadly, disaster struck and a lucky Bailieboro goal gave the home side an undeserved 2-1 to 1-2 halftime lead.
This setback seemed to effect the side and in the second half Bailiebor dominated proceedings with their taller and stronger players to the fore throughout. At the end they were worthy winners. Still their are three games left in the league and plenty of time for the side to re-group.
