Kingscourt 2-12 Cuchullains 0-6
The Juniors powered into the Division 4 promotion final with a dominating performance in O’Raghallaigh Park on Friday night. Despite the fact that before the start word had came through that the Junior B semi would be the following evening, the result was rarely in doubt as Kingscourt bossed the game from the start and were worth every one of their 2-12 to 0-6 winning margin.
Once Kieran Smith found the net early on (with a goal more akin to an U-14 match) Kingscourt took control. Credit to the Mullagh side they kept with it and at half time just trailed by that goal on a 1-5 to 0-5 scoreline. Kingscourt rang the changes with four switches, with more than one eye on the the following evening’s championship match.
However, as has been proven already this season, the strength in depth available meant the Stars pressed on. Some super scores from MossyMalone and Barry Tully stretched the lead before Drew McCabe found the back of the net to make it 2-8 to 0-6.
With that the game was done and Kingscourt sealed the victory by putting on the style and scoring some super scores, heck even Bully came on and rifled over a long range effort.
At the end it was a job well done and despite tomorrow’s championship match on the horizon, credit has to be given to all connected to the side and with confidence now sky high, hopes are high ahead of the championship semi-final.
P.S. Thanks to the new photographer, she’s much better than her uncle!!
