SENIORS

The Seniors retained the Senior Championship status with a superb 0-15 to 1-10 victory (AET) in Lavey on Saturday afternoon.  In a game that had everything, the lads recovered from a six point second half deficit, a three point deficit as we entered injury time and an extra-time half-time deficit.  A superb attitude and unwillingness to accept defeat saw us through in a pulsating encounter.

Superb performances all over the field and well done to all involved.  For a full match report, please click here

JUNIORS

The Juniors face a promotion play-off with Mullahoran in Virginia at 5pm on Saturday with the winners playing in Division Three next year.  While the league play-offs will follow this match to decide the Division Four “winners” there is little doubt that this is the real deciding match in the league.  As such, we would ask for a big crowd to make their way to Virginia to cheer on the side.

MINORS

The Minors opened their championship campaign with a tricky tie away to Cavan Gaels at 6.30pm yesterday evening.  A decent opening half saw them trail by just three points at halftime. However an early Gaels goal gave the current holders some breathnig space and they held on for a comfortable 1-15 to 1-9 victory.  This defeat finishes the Minors for 2009.

U-14’s

The U-14’s have made their way through to the Division Two Championship final after a thrilling comeback victory against Killygarry last week.  Despite trailing 2-5 to 0-1 at halftime they kept plugging away in the second half and gained a narrow 2-9 to 2-8 victory.  Well done to all the players.

However, the hard work ain’t done yet and they will again be underdogs against a strong Drumlane side in the final but if they can put in a performance to their second half last week, they will do everyone proud, whatever the result.  The final is in Breffni on Thursday 17th at 7pm.

U-13’s

The 13’s continued their league campaign with a home game against Ramor Utd on the 7th at 6.30pm. For pictures from the match, please click here.  They still have to face Cavan Gaels in their postponed match and the results of that match will decide whether they progress to the knockout stages.

U-12 GIRLS

Commiserations to the Girls who lost out to local rivals Bailieboro at the weekend.  Playing in their first ever championship match they were unable to match their opponent’s greater experience but acquitted themselves well nonetheless.  They marks the end of their first competitive season and an unbeaten league run which saw them reach the final was a super achievement.  Training continues at 11.30am on Sunday mornings and all are welcome from 7+.

 LOTTO

This week’s draw took place in The Portherhouse. There was no jackpot winner and just the one Match 3 with Eilish McKeown winning €200.  The winning numbers were 13, 19, 27 & 28 (Bonus 08).  Next week’s draw takes place in Gartlans and the jackpot will be €2,200 (€7,200 inc. bonus).

 JUVENILE DRAW

The Juvenile Club’s annual draw takes place on 11th September with plenty of cash prizes up for grabs.  1st prize is two tickets for the All-Ireland Football Final along with B&B and Evening Meal in Jury’s Croke Park Hotel and €200 spending money.  A super prize and well worth buying a ticket or two for and as it’s the juvenile clubs only fundraiser, it’s a cause well worth supporting too. Tickets for available from all committee members and in plenty of shops in the town.
