In ideal conditions in this Division Four semi-final, Belturbet forwards were in good form right from the start and with Kingscourt starting extremely sluggish found themselves six points to no score down after fifteen minutes. Belturbet’s full-forward Garrett Fitzpatrick causingthe main problems in the Kingscourt defence. The introduction of midfielder Gavin Sheenan midway through first half gave the team a boost and they got back to within two points of Belturbet by half time with a goal from Anthony Corcoran leaving the score line 0-8 to 1-3.
Kingscourt dominated the early stages of the first half and with points from Mark McKeown and Daryll Martin and went three points into the lead. With the division four league final within touching distance Kingscourt managed to let their lead slip away and conceded 1-1 in the final ten minutes.
With a long injury list Kingscourt will be disappointed with their damp finish to the junior campaign but can make no complaints about the end result and overall it was a very successful season.
