Kingscourt 1-16 Killeshandra 2-8
Another super victory for the Seniors tonight with a hard fought victory over Killeshandra down the Park with a JP Reilly goal on the stroke of halftime seeing us hit the front for the first time and never look back.
Some early missed goal chances allowed Killeshandra lead early before some Philly Smith points levelled things up and after the first quarter it was 0-4 each. On 18 minutes, a high ball into the Kingscourt square caused some confusion and Declan McKiernan punched to an empty net to regain the lead forthe Leaguers. However, the Stars have not been lacking spirit this year and controlled the remainder ofthe half and points from Barry Reilly, Barry Tully & Ryan McCormack levelled matter at 1-4 to 0-7.
Then as we approached halftime a great team move ended up with wingback, JP Reilly bursting through and finishing to the net and another Philly Smith point saw the home side lead 1-8 to 1-4 at halftime.
The 2nd half saw Kingsocurt spread the scores round and quickly had thegame under control as they went eight points clear at 1-13 to 1-5 including a great Philly Tinnelly point.
A second goal from McKiernan gave Killeshandra brief hope with 10 mins remaining but Kingscourt simply tagged on a few more scores and ended the game comfortably clear by five points as they secured their fifth successive victory of the season.
