Pat Tinnelly
Playing Career – 1959 – 1982
The Tinnelly name has been synonymous with The Kingscourt Stars Club from the late 50’s, when Pat started playing Juvenile, right up to the present day with his son’s Ronan & Philip both presently playing at Senior level for the club.
It would be true to say that Pat was one of the most stylish, sporting, teak-tough and accomplished footballers that this great club has ever produced. He represented Cavan with distinction at Minor, U-21, Junior and Senior level and among his greatest achievements are winning two Ulster Senior medals, two Wembley Tournament medals and a Dr. McKenna Cup medal.
He served as a selector for Cavan and managed his native club team and is presently a member of the club’s working committee. When asked about the greatest players he had played against he cited Tony McTeague of Offaly and Mickey Kearns of Sligo as the best. Both very interesting choices.
