SENIORS

The Seniors made it six of the best with another great showing on Wednesday night in a 3-13 to 1-9 victory at home to Ballinagh.  For a brief report (and I mean brief!) and some pictures from the match, please click here.

On Saturday, Ramor were the latest team to come to town and made the magnificent seven, just, with a 0-19 to 1-13 victory.  Again, for a short report and some pictures please click here.

Next up is yet another match at home, this the visitors are Redhills and this takes place on Friday @ 8pm before a trip ( I know an away match, the cheek!) to Cavan Gaels on the Bank Holiday Saturday @ 7pm.

JUNIORS

The Juniors had to settle for a share of the spoils at the weekend as Templeport were rewarded by making the long trip to East Cavan by claiming a 0-11 to 1-8 draw in a scorching O’Raghallaigh Park.

Kingscourt started strong and by the 1st quarter led 0-4 to 0-0, however the visitors kept plugging away and always stayed in contact.  A 2nd half goal gave them a further boost and a late free give them a point.  Kingscourt will be disappointed not to have secured the points but it’s still five points out of six, and after their opening four games, that’s a pretty good turnaround.

Next up is another home game  when they host Corlough on Sunday 30th @ 1pm, followed by a trip to Stradone to face Laragh Utd on Bank Holiday Saturday @ 3pm.

MINORS

Best of luck to Joe Dillon and James Farrelly who are both on the Cavan Minor Panel that plays Fermanagh in the quarter-final of the Ulster Championship on Sunday @ 7pm.  Why not make the trip to show the team some support, Good Minors this year……

U-16

The 16s finished their league group matches last week.  First up they made the trip to Terry Coyle Park last Tuesday but were undone by a strong Gaels side on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-5.Next up they faced Redbridge in their re-arranged match on Friday night. Needing a win to secure their semi-final spot they duly obliged with a 4-16 to 3-9 victory.  This secured third place in the group and presumably that means they will play whoever finishes second, but I’ve no confirmation of that, or when the semi-final will take place.

On a connected note, congrats to Aaron Brown on being one of the five county players to be selected to partake in an Elite Training Program in University of Jordanstown in July as organised by the Ulster Council.

U-14’s

The U-14’s face Cavan Gaels in the Shield Final on tonight (Mon) @ 7.45pm on the 3G pitch at Breffni.  This will be their final outing of the year and hopefully they can repeat their league victory and sign of in style.  The game is also well worth attending for anyone who has not yet checked out the impressive 3G pitch.

U-12

The 12s finished of the league matches with a great win over Cavan Gaels up in Terry Coyle Park last week.  They have now completed all their matches with just one defeat, a great achievement by everyone connected. This tournament will now finish with the super blitz finals day in Breffni Park on Monday 6th June.

U-10

The 10’s are stepping up things in preparation for the Newry blitz.  Last week saw them take on Shercock down the Park in a very worthwhile run out. For some photos, please click here.   This week sees Simonstown cross the border and take us on @ 7pm on Wednesday evening with a trip to Knockbride arrange for the following week. As always, fierce entertainment at these encounters, so why not take it in if you can.

U-8

Kingscourt host their first blitz of the year this Saturday (29th) when they Bailieboro, Cootehill & Shercock come to O’Raghallaigh Park.  A great day will be had and proceedings get under way at 11am.

HURLING

Underage Hurling continues with U-6 & U-8 training forming part of the same level’s football training on Sunday mornings.  Newcomers are more than welcome as are those who may only wish to participate in Hurling only.

WEBSITES

The club’s FACEBOOK page continues to prove popular with club updates regularly uploaded.  As well as regular updates, this week sees video clips from the Senior’s matches v Ballinagh and Ramor Utd. Details for the regional hurling are also available on East Cavan Hurling’s page.

As for the plain old-fashioned website – www.kingscourtstars.ie this continues to be updated with all the results, fixtures, tables etc.. for all the teams and is still well worth a visit. The live streaming is still moving along behind the scenes with a recent successful trial run.  Still plenty of work to do (including finding a commentator, come on, you’re out there somewhere!) and we hope to have more news early next month.

FANTASY FOOTBALL

The club’s Ulster Championship Fantasy Football competition started last week with 21 entries in total.  Click here for a full listing of how everyone performed, or didn’t as the case may be… After the 1st week, Joe McCarthy leads the way after Week 1

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto again last night, and for the 2nd week in a row there was no Match 3’s either.  The numbers drawn were 14, 16, 21 & 26 (Bonus 25).  This means that next week’s draw in Blakes will have a jackpot of €9,400 and Match 3’s will win/share €600.  Well worth a go surely!
