Cuchullainns 0-13  Kingscourt 2-9 (AET)

Kingscourt made it through to the semi-finals of this year’s 2010 Junior B Championship when only a Michael Flood goal in extra time could separate the teams in a sun-drenched Cross on Sunday afternoon.

The pitch was tight and the difference between the teams even tighter. Cuchullainns got off to the worst possible start going down to 14 men when their full forward was sent of for dissent within the first five minutes. Athough a man short the Mullagh men dominated the scoring in the first half taking many points from a free kicks.

The Stars thought they had got things level before halftime when Anthony Corcoran punched the ball to the net after good run after a measured pass from Ciaran Gorman however the goal was disallowed and Kingscourt trailed by three points as the sides went in at the break.

Kingscourt were wasteful of much of their dominant possession in the second half and continued to trail for most of the second half. A penalty was missed by the Dun na Ri men also but with ten minutes on the clock Seannie Farrelly pulled on a loose ball in the full forward line and smashed the ball to the top corner of the Cuchullainns net.

With scores even at full time the stage was set for a nail biting extra time finale. A goal from Michael Flood within the first five minutes of extra time from Kingscourt proved to be the difference between the two teams on this sweltering hot day in Cross.  Kingscourt march on to the semi finals after a testing and tense battle and Cuchullainns bow out of the Championship.
