Drumgoon 0-6 Kingscourt 0-10

The Seniors followed up their opening weekend win with a hard fought 0-11 to 0-6 victory away to Drumgoon.  On a bitterly cold day (my weather forecasting is as good as my match predictions) and a heavy pitch this was always going to be a tough encounter but the side will take great confidence from this victory.

A tight first half saw both sides struggle in the conditions and despite good scores from Ryan McCormack & Colm Smith, late scores from Drumgoon saw the home side lead 0-4 to 0-3.

However, aided by a strengthening breeze, the Stars stepped up their efforts and early scores from Neil McCabe & Mark McKeown saw us regain the lead and stretch it to three points as we entered the final quarter.  A superb goal line clearance from Shane Gray kept us ahead and while Drumgoon rallied late on, further scores from Joe McMahon & Sean Og Gargan sealed the victory.

With two victories from two, it’s been a very pleasing start to the campaign, and the manner of this victory will give the side tremendous confidence.  They now have a two week break before they resume things with a home match against Ballyhaise on Friday 27^th March at 8.30pm
