Kingscourt 1-14 Mullahoran 2-6
The Juniors made it two out of two with a well-deserved 1-14 to 2-6 victory over Mullahoran last Friday night. In conditions more akin to a horror movie, both sides played some entertaining football despite the the fog descending on the pitch as the second half progressed. Kingscourt had the upper hand in the first half but two terrific long range scores from the visitors left Kingscourt just 0-6 to 0-4 ahead at halftime.
Kingscourt caught a break early in the second half when a long range free from Sean Og Gargan dropped short but squirmed thru the keepers hands and into the net. Kingscourt then surged clear and super scores from Sean Og & Daryl Martin but Kingscourt 1-9 to 0-6 clear with 15 minutes left and seemingly in control
However, a penalty gave Mullahoran hope and then when they managed to flick home another goal as a free dropped short, all of a sudden the visitors were only a point behind at 1-10 to 2-6 with less than five minutes remaining.
However, urged on by a strong bench, Kingscourt responded with great character and some further great scores by Sean Og Gargan and someone else (well we were wearing white jerseys and it was foggy, give me a break!) left Kingscourt five points clear at the end.
The Juniors now have a break while focus turns to the Seniors for a few weeks and the Juniors next run out will be a trip to Maghera on Sunday 19th April at 2pm
