SENIORS

The Seniors season continues in limbo at present with the scheduled championship match postponed due to the county side taken priority and also the fact that they have no postponed league matches to play.  As such, challenge matches are the order of the day and this weekend  the side faced Meath champions, Navan O’Mahonys in Nobber on Sunday evening and enjoyed a good run out despite the late night the day before!  Further challenges continue this week with matches against Mattock Rangers on Wednesday and Ramor Utd on Friday.

JUNIORS

After a recent victory of Denn, and defeat to Ballinagh (reports and pictures from these games appearing on www.kingscourtstars.ie) the Juniors also have a wait until their next league match which will be on Sunday 12th July at 2pm when they host Belturbet.  With three matches remaining the side is two points clear at the top and in a strong position to challenge for promotion and they will be eager to make amends for the defeat to Ballinagh.

The draw for the championship has been made with the side drawn away to Crosserlough and the winners then away to Gowna or Killygarry.  No dates have been confirmed for these matches.

U-16’s

The 16’s resume their league campaign last week and suffered their first defeat away to Ballyhaise by 4-12 to 4-6.  Their remaining league match at home to Bailieboro is on Friday 3rd July at 7.30pm.  With the side already through to the semi’s they will be hoping to finish of well.  The league semi will take place on Tuesday 7th July with the final on 13th July.

U-14’s

The U-14’s are currently competing in the regional seven a side Summer Blitzes. They hosted Knockbride, Shercock & Bailieboro on Thursday 18th June and a victory over Shercock saw them thru to the reserve competition the following Thursday in Drung.  A great performance here saw them win on the night.  They are now waiting to see whether they will progress further to a reserve finals.  Congrats to all the players on the progress they have made during the season after a difficult start.

U-12 Girl’s

The girls will be finishing of their league matches over the next week.  They host Shercock at 6.30pm in the park on Monday 29th with Cuchullains the visitors the following Monday (6th).  In between, their postponed trip to Laragh Utd will be hopefully re-scheduled.  After their winning their opening three matches, hopefully the girls can keep their good run going.

U-10’s & U-8’s

Both these sides continue training on Sunday morning at 11.30am and Wednesday evening at 5.30pm respectively.  No details of any upcoming blitzes yet but they should be out in action next month.

HURLING

Hurling will shortly be returning to Kingscourt. Before that there will be coach education nights held in the club to help people who would like to get involved learn the skills required to teach hurling to 6-10 year olds. These nights are great fun and conducted in a light-hearted fashion by Mickey Glover, the new regional development officer for Cavan from the Ulster Council. NO EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER IS REQUIRED to attend these nights.

We are looking for parents, players young and old (players are the great role models for our younger players) and anyone who would like to give their time to help develop the game here. The bigger the numbers the better. Why not give it a go? You never know where it might lead!! These nights are aimed at potential coaches first and when enough are recruited then we will start to recruit the players we need.

The first of the coach education nights is on Thursday 2nd July at 6.30 at the pitch. ALL are welcome and it should take no more than an hour. Further details can be had from James Brown, Pat Faulkner or Willie Gaughan.

WORLD RECORD
